Google testing new Privacy Sandbox settings on Chrome

Google is now starting Origin trials for the Chrome Privacy Sandbox (A new way to serve targeted ads without using any kind of cookies) They aim to test ad relevance via their new Topics API, FLEDGE and Attribution Reporting.

These Origin trials help Google Test this Experimental Chrome tech with a limited number of people, making sure that it’s ready for general use. Developers will be able to begin testing code for Topics, FLEDGE, and Attribution Reporting in the Canary Chrome Beta.

“and we’ll progress to origin trials with a limited number of Chrome Beta users as soon as possible,” it wrote. Eventually, the company will expand trials to a stable version of Chrome to access a larger user subset. All the trials will be available globally, with updates available here.

Google will be testing these updated settings, allowing you to control your participation in these trials. Under the browser-based ad personalization section, you’ll be able to remove various interests estimated by Chrome. You’ll also be able to control how advertisements are measured, choose how to participate, and spam and fraud reduction, helping advertisers detect bots.

The privacy sandbox has met with a lot of criticism from EU and UK advertisers, saying that removing these cookies will hurt their ad businesses.
