The Tesla Shanghai factory will stay closed for another day as the city is dealing with a strict lockdown measure brought on by increasing COVID-19 cases. Tesla told employees in China to stay home to comply with the COVID-19 restrictions the city had implied.

TESLA FIRST SHUTTERED ITS SHANGHAI PLANT ON MARCH 28TH. Tesla closed this plant first on March 28th, with the start of the city’s two-stage lockdown, the company did aim to keep the factory closed for just four days. But as of now, the factory has stayed closed for a week.
The Tesla Shanghai factory is the largest production plant Tesla has, it also produces nearly 6000 model threes and 10,000 models wise every week. Tesla reported 310,048 deliveries in the first quarter of 2022, despite Elon Musk calling it an exceptionally difficult quarter due to supply chain disruptions and the Shanghai plant’s shut down. Also, considering the fact that they have been facing a lot of issues, the company is also set to open a new plant in Austin, TX this week after they opened the factory in Berlin, Germany last month.
