From now, Apple technicians will decline to fix iPhones if the device is reported as stolen or lost. Apple sent out a memo to their stores and authorized providers to not accept the device for repair if they get a notice on their internal MobileGenius systems that the phone had been marked as missing.
This move supplements Apple’s existing policy, which is to decline repairs for devices whose owners cannot disable the Find My iPhone feature. Also, the value of second-hand devices outside of official and authorized sources will fall as it’s risky.

But the thing is any user could just easily go to a third-party repair shop and get their device repaired as they don’t care.
iPhones have become very cost-prohibitive over the years, which gave rise to a second-hand unit market. Although Apple is working on a subscription service for the iPhone, This will decrease the value for secondhand dealers out there.
