Google is working on a new Nest Hub with a removable tablet, that can be released in 2022. According to a lot of sources out there, you will be able to detach the screen from the speaker base and use it like any other tablet. This idea does make a lot of sense, as it will boost the functionality.
It’s not clear what operating system this device will run on, as the 2nd-gen Nest Hub runs on Google Cast. However, a detachable tablet will likely have Android or something that resembles Android in some way, or maybe Fuchsia OS. The latest 2nd-gen Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max have 7” and 10” screens. They have features like sleep tracking, media playback, and control of connected home devices.
This device with a detachable tablet will reportedly launch in 2022 but we recommend you don’t take this seriously until there is an official response from Google’s end.
