Cadillac Lyriq is now in production, their first electric vehicle.


The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Electric crossover is now in production at GMs Spring Hill, TN factory. The company announced this on Monday as this EB is the company’s first electric vehicle, The production of this car is a lot ahead of schedule as General Motors initially said that production was not going to begin until late 2022. As they did face a lot of criticism that their new electric vehicles were taking too long to reach customers, That is why they decided to take this step.

Mark Reuss claimed that this step will bring Cadillac back to leadership, back to tier one luxury. They also said that this will make an American luxury brand recognized and hardly desirable, both from a design, technology, and engineering standpoint.

The Lyric debuted in August 2020 and it is going to be starting at $59,990, General Motors did not detail its trim level and options that will be available for it, there is no pre-order kind of thing for this car right now. This car will have a debut addition form with a 100.4 kWh battery pack and rear-wheel drive. GM says they are targeting 300 miles of range and 340 horsepower and 324-pound feet of torque.

This car is the first Cadillac to be built on General Motors’ new flexible Ultium architecture used to power GM’s EV lineup including the Hummer EV. GM did tweak a few things like reducing the dependency of the Ultium battery cells on Cobalt. Because they just announced this car, the demand is very strong as a lot of executives out there, over 240,000 of them are raising their hands for it. And these customers did not put any money down for a reservation or pre. reservation but they just indicated that they were interested in purchasing this car when it is available to the masses.
