Microsoft just closed a $19.7 billion takeover of Nuance Communications. Nuance Communications is a speech-tech company that previously was behind Apple Siri. Microsoft announced this acquisition last April and cleared the final regulatory barrier this week.
Nuance CEO Mark Benjamin will stay at their position, But they will now have to report to Microsoft Cloud and AI Executive Vice President Scott Guthrie. Does this mean we can see a glorified version of Cortana or something better now? We never know, but we think Microsoft is planning to do something with this acquisition.
