TikTok expands video length to 10 minutes supercharged Youtube competitor?

TikTok is now starting to roll out the ability for users to upload videos up to 10 minutes in length. This official launch comes as TikTok has been testing this change over the past months, previously videos on TikTok Could be only up to 3 minutes long. A TikTok spokesperson said in a statement that they’re always thinking about new ways to bring value to the community. They said that they introduced long-form content, giving creators more time to share their content. This expanded video length will give creators a lot more time and flexibility when they filmed things like cooking demos, beauty tutorials, educational content, comedy sketches, and more.

But this announcement from TikTok means that it is becoming more of a competitor to YouTube, Although YouTube did try competing with TikTok with their own offering “YouTube shorts” they simply cannot stand a chance against TikTok Has a very big array of features that creators can use to make content and they also include popular features include stitches and duets, which allow creators to collaborate with other users’ content. YouTube is not the only social media platform that has taken off this new thread in the social media industry, as Instagram also launched their Tiktok clone, called Instagram reels in 2020 (Although they are getting a bit more of a head start as they include a lot wider array of features and filters that do help compete with TikTok)

TikTok says that the option to film longer videos on the platform will roll out to users all over the globe and the users weeks ahead and they will also be notified when they receive the update. They will also need to ensure that they are using the latest version of the social media platform before trying out this feature.
