Google is bringing Chrome OS to PCs and Macs, the ultimate move.

Google has now announced early access to a new version of Chrome OS, which they call Chrome OS Flex (Although you could never flex with that OS) This new version of Chrome OS is designed for businesses and schools, and it is designed to run on old PCs and Macs (Piggybacking off of existing tech is a great way to increase profits and market share) Well, this will be great for a lot of users, as many old computers out there just get left to die As they are deemed too slow for today’s standards and because Google’s Chrome OS is very lightweight, it can almost run anywhere, it seems like it’s the best way Google can bring more users into their OS. According to Google, They said that this operating system is very easy to install and you can do it within minutes according to a blog post.

Chrome or West Legs is going to be looking and feeling very identical to Chrome OS on a Chrome book, but it is built from the same codebase and follows the same released cadence, so that’s that. Although some of the features in the operating system will Depend on the hardware of your PC, It’s almost the same for every little software piece inside of Chrome OS. Including the Google Assistant that always looks out for your response and responds whenever you call its name, And also Android phone syncing. So if you are looking forward to trying that on an old PC, Just keep an eye out for this.

Although the problems that you could potentially face if you did install Chrome OS on Mac or PC are outweighed by the better things that you could do with it, and it’s really useful for schools as they will not need any Android phone syncing or the always on Google Assistant.

Google recently bought Neverware, a software that previously sold an application called CloudReady allowing users to convert old PCs into Chrome OS systems. With this acquisition from google’s and many people did speculate that we could see chrome OS and their future in the PC space and it Is basically true.

Google says that they have been working hard integrating the benefits of Cloudready into a new version of Chrome OS. It appears to be Google’s first step. You can also just put it directly from a USB drive, if you would rather poke around before installing it.
