Clubhouse adds a new feature for introverts, game changer?

Clubhouse, the Social Audio App is now adding a text chat function to their voice rooms (Well, that’s opposite of what they’re supposed to do) But they announced on Thursday that they were taking this step. This is kinda similar to what you see on a Zoom call, some people just don’t want to go ahead and speak up, so what they do is they write out their opinions in the room’s chat channel. Although you might think it is very counter-intuitive for an audio social platform to introduce a texting feature, Some users like this feature as some very big rooms are sometimes dominated by only a few celebrity speakers and a chat function for the entirety of the community listening is the only way anyone can join the conversation.

Although Clubhouse has laid out a few ways for creators to keep their rooms from becoming very rude or violent, Creators can appoint mods to delete messages and kick out disruptive users from the room. You can also report messages that violate Clubhouse’s user guidelines to the platform. This is chat room function is optional and if you’d like your room to be only audio you can just go ahead and do it that way. Creators can also choose to record the room audio and the written chat log can also be saved.

While many different social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Reddit are copying Clubhouse, Clubhouse themselves are also starting to look like the rest of social media platforms. Previously, there was only a mobile-only app but recently, Clubhouse rolled out a way for people to listen to conversations on their desktop. Users can also send direct messages to each other with Backchannel now.
