Twitter is pretending they did not make any feature fleets. Remember Fleets, Twitter’s disappearing tweets feature that shut down just eight and a half months after it launched. Twitter is pretending, according to a tweet from the official Twitter account on Tuesday that this feature called Fleets never existed.
It was, of course, a joke, but they did express How they felt about this tech that they discontinued. The Twitter account is very silly and Works very hard to make you feel like the best online friend you could ever have (Because it’s their platform, of course) Reportedly there is a big team that runs this account To make you feel that way. Well anyways this tweet is very funny admittedly But it does have a meaning and reason behind it.
Fleets, the feature that they introduced To compete with Stories on Instagram and Snapchat Which ended up becoming a feature that was hardly used. Only a very small set of people actually did use this feature, including me (Honestly, just once) This feature was a good one, but the thing is that Twitter is a social platform which everyone knows for sharing their thoughts in text Not visually on stories, so the point of fleets was Very conflicting with what Twitter was all about. (Well, we’re not here to judge, But that’s an opinion)
Well, Twitter on their On timeline did say that They were tired of the fleets feature and they do not think about it anymore. It was a very bad launch and no one use it, so it was very bad. Well, no one is going to be missing fleets That’s for sure.
