Google is discontinuing unlimited WhatsApp backup plan for Google Drive.

Last year, there were speculations that WhatsApp would end support for unlimited Google Drive backups and also be rolling out or limited plan for Android users but we didn’t see that change that year. But it seems like WhatsApp is moving closer to implementing this change in their service soon. Google Drive might end with unlimited backups.

Or an Android user relying on WhatsApp for your messaging needs. You’ve also probably used Google Drive for unlimited storage for backing up your chats on WhatsApp. This is happening because of a strategic deal between the mirror-owned messaging app and Google in 2018.

However, a recent report by WhatsApp Beta Tracker Said that Google could stop offering unlimited storage for WhatsApp backups on Android phones. They also discovered some strings of code on WhatsApp that suggest the same.

WhatsApp did integrate a few code strings of Google Drive limit. They have put in a Google Drive limit in effect and “Google Drive limit Reached” popups, This suggests that Android devices could soon lose the benefit of unlimited WhatsApp backups. This is not very much new news as we did see, Google stopped offering free unlimited storage for Google Photos last year.

Google will still offer a small certain quota for WhatsApp backups. It will still be part of the limited plans and the limited storage space available on Google Drive, So to avoid filling it totally up, you Probably will have to choose between the basic important data to avoid exceeding the limit.

We currently have no other information about this limited plan for WhatsApp backups on Google Drive, Although we do know for sure that this storage blockage will not be available for users who have Google One subscriptions.

This is still speculation and we do expect to know more about this in the coming weeks As this is still in the rumor and leakage phase and we have not officially heard from any other companies saying they’re making a change right now.
