The 2D emojis on Windows 11 is temporary right now. Microsoft appears to be working on still true 3D emojis For Windows, after teasing it last year and then only shipping 2D versions in Windows 11.

They did over promise and under deliver and that is not a good thing, But it seems like they haven’t given up on 3D Emojis though, On Friday, Costa authored A blog post on Microsoft’s New Direction for its emoji system, detailing the company’s push towards 3D after a 2020 hackathon.

We don’t know when this 3D emoji will start appearing in Windows 11, but at least Microsoft is still working on bringing their original vision to life right now.

While getting people’s hopes up, Microsoft did unveil their Windows 11 version with not so impressive 2D emojis, That is because 2D flat emojis work great across other multiple applications Operating systems, and ecosystems. Although they could make it work with a lot more optimization, there were also technical limitations to windows that Microsoft needed to work on. They did not have the time for it and that is why they are working on it now.

We hope to see Microsoft coming out with their 3D emojis ’cause it looks very cool in the images that were released. Microsoft chose to reflect Human qualities, like wrinkles in hairstyles in its emojis, and how the team makes these emojis pop in apps like Microsoft Teams and other Microsoft services.
