Apple will now let developers distribute unlisted apps through the App Store. What this means is that The app that the developer publishes will be available on search results, App Store, categories, charts, or recommendations. It will always be visible through the Apple business manager or Apple School Manager, It can also be accessed through a specialized link.
Apple says that unlisted apps are great for limited audiences, such as guests, Members of an organization Study participants, Or a specific group of employees. Also, to use this feature right now And make an app unlisted to obtain a link. Developers will also need to submit a request to Apple.
Apps that are only approved for private downloads on the Apple business manager or Apple School manager required developers to take some extra steps. Apple also says that developers will have to create a new record in the App Store, Upload the binary, and then set the distribution method to the public. Developers with public apps can only submit a request without any additional steps.
After Apple approves the request for making an app unlisted. The distribution method for the app will change to “Unlisted app”. Also, Apple is not allowing any apps that are in beta mode or pre-release, The app has to be ready for final distribution.
A similar policy in the developer Enterprise program was originally put in place for developers to test internal apps they could use before distributing for the masses, many bad people came in and used these Features to get away with Apple safety requirements leading to the presence of many pirated games, gambling and other vulgar apps in the App Store.
It’s still not clear how rigorous this review process is going to be from Apple’s end. But yeah, the addition of Unlisted apps in the App Store is a pretty great thing for developers to internally test their apps and make sure it’s ready for public use without any bugs and glitches.
