Microsoft making a new foldable, the same crappy junk or something good?

A new Microsoft patent looks like they’re looking into making a new tri-folding Surface device, this probably is a little hit to Samsung from their end and this also indicates that Microsoft is looking to go ahead into the foldable market currently dominated by huge players.

Microsoft revealed their Surface Duo 2 (which did fold but in a monumentally different way) in September, a patent picked up by Patently Apple says that they’re creating a device with two hinges, connecting three different displays.

The three displays will combine to form a single, giant tablet screen, the displays can also stack on top of each other reducing the overall size.

This will also be possible by different hinges, allowing the main screen to remain on the outside of the device. It’s surely going to be a fairly thick phone, but technically a huge tablet too.

If Microsoft’s slightly basic patent is anything to go by. This has no details of circuit boards, sensors, or cameras, patents are far from an indicator that the product is surely coming.

A tri-folding phone might be very useful, Microsoft needs to polish its two-screen devices before anyone can actually get it, if this is going to be a device similar to the original Galox Fold (which was an experiment), there’s not going to be many people buying this device.

Microsoft although makes great hardware like Apple, they don’t make great software unlike Apple, there are many software bugs, crashes, and freezes, with a weak battery that’s not good.

(Android isn’t very power efficient)

These features are all very important for devices like the Surface Duo 2 because they’re designed for power users who want two apps on the two screens.

This concept would be also applied to three screens that aren’t fully covered in Microsoft’s patent.
