After introducing a solar Eco Remote for their TVs, Samsung is now back with a version that comes with magic, no seriously, nerdy magic. Somewhat like their previous Remote, this one will also charge with solar power,

But this time around, Samsung added capabilities allowing the remote to preserve its charge by taking the router’s radio waves, converting them to energy. You don’t see this in many gadgets, although the tech has been here for a while now. But not many companies have implemented this tech.

The Remote can be charged also with both outdoor and indoor lighting or over USB-C (that’s good, not impressive). Samsung says it’s introducing a white model of the remote this year.

Samsung said that moving to solar-powered remotes could avoid 99 million dumped batteries in seven years.

Other ways of charging the internal battery, the kinetic energy generated when the remote is shaken and the vibrational energy created when the microphone picks up sounds.
