You’re killing Mi, Xiaomi is getting rid of themselves

WHATTTTTTT?!!!!!!!!!

Xiaomi stands as part of the giants in the big tech smartphone space within the last few years. Xiaomi has seen a big increase in growing markets with increased affordability and price-to-performance balance compared to competitors. Xiaomi has many sub-brands like Redmi and POCO, their lineup of flagship smartphones come with the “Mi” badge. Well, that is no more, they are getting rid of it.

A Xiaomi representative confirmed it with XDA-Developers, Mi branding is now being retired from this point on. The shift includes also its other products in other markets. The Mi branding is now over, and will be replaced by just “Xiaomi.”

Xiaomi recently introduced their latest entry in the Mix series, the Xiaomi Mix 4, successor to the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3. Difference? There’s no “Mi Mix” no-more, just “Mix.” The new branding is going to apply to all future Xiaomi products, as well.

The “Xiaomi” name has become huge globally, so they want to associate their phones with their name themselves. The name change will align with what they call their phones in China, that’s just “Xiaomi”

Don’t expect to see the Mi branding anymore on any Xiaomi product. This won’t help with the other issues with the company’s horrible smartphone naming scheme, but that’s fine.
