Nishika! ahem Nimstec! that’s really cool!

The Nishika N8000

Nishika was an American camera company based in the Las Vegas Valley that sold inexpensive plastic stereo cameras. Although, here’s a backstory, Nishika had bought Nimstec. Nimstec was founded by Jerry Nims and Allen Kwok Wah Lo, inventors of the Nimslo: a four lens stereo camera and the particular lenticular printing process associated with it. After acquiring Nimstec, Nishika introduced the N8000 and then the smaller N9000, both of which were heavily based on the Nimslo.

Anyways, the backstory isn’t that appealing but the camera kinda is, The Nimslo was a 3D camera! A 3D CAMERA!!! That isn’t very common, you might realise if you look at all the cameras produced EVER. That’s what makes it cool, the way it takes a photo!

The Nimslo

The Nimslo was a thing of the past, like a million years old, it was built in the 80’s and it worked with reels *not IG reels lol* There wasn’t Digital Photography at that time so digitally stiching images together to make this effect wasn’t possible…https://www.youtube.com/embed/3HUTC3KfUnU?version=3&rel=1&showsearch=0&showinfo=1&iv_load_policy=1&fs=1&hl=en&autohide=2&wmode=transparent

BUT you can actually achieve a photo like this right through your phone! LucidPix is a way to do that, you can just go and get it on the Play Store, and it can give similar results to the Nimslo, for the most part atleast.

Anyways, here’s more detail about the Nimslo 3D Camera. The Camera used to take 4 images together, in real time! These types of cameras are called Stereoscopic Cameras.

Nimstec 3D Image

There was a reel and was stretched out to the opposite end and then when the photo was taken, you had to process those images and wait for sometime after the image could be built up, Just like all cameras back then, but this one was a bit different.

Nimslo Mechanism

This Camera is really awesome, I wish some Modern Brand would magically come up with a 3D Camera with all the fancy new tech, If they’d integrate the mirrorless APS-C style sensors, it’d be even more awesome!
