Here’s all about a brand you probably don’t know… Panavision

See, when I was making a casual RED Google Search (research purposes), I saw a brand called Panavision. I felt their existence. For people who’re judging me, C’mon give me a break I’m 15, and you’re reading content made by me.

Panavision is an American motion picture equipment company founded in 1953 specializing in cameras and lenses, based in Woodland Hills, California. Formed by Robert Gottschalk.

Panavision are part of the “Shot on IMAX” camera batch. They share the top spot in the IMAX lineup with ARRI’s Alexa LF, Red’s Ranger Monstro and Sony’s Venice cameras with their Millennium DXL2. They are also known for their wide range of Anamorphic Lenses updated at a regular basis.

If you didn’t know, IMAX film is known as 15/70 film format. Each frame is 15 perforations wide and 70 millimeters high, so IMAX films are about 10 times bigger than the standard 35 millimeter film we see in normal movie theaters.

Their starred cameras (The Ones Holding Up their Reputation) include the DXL2 and DXL-M. They do all their production in Woodland Hills, California. They never sell any of their cameras and they are available to rent for anyone with cash-filled pockets. Their consumers mostly include Huge Production Firms.

You’d be shocked to know that their star player (The DXL2 8K) are the ones that were used to shoot the most top grossing films of all time. The Upcoming Shang-Chi (Yeah, that Marvel Movie), the Upcoming Black Widow Movie, The Netflix hit movie series “The Kissing Booth”, heck, Tom and Jerry and also “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” were shot on the DXL2. Totally shocking stuff right here, I am shook to know that all of my favorites are shot on this camera (I suppose you are too)

These IMAX cameras are rented by huge production companies and are used in huge blockbuster cinemas, I don’t think you’re heading over to the shop to get this one. I don’t think there’s any verdict to give. Although, it’s an Awesome camera and I really hope I get to see one someday. The Professionals know what they’re doing and if they think this is the camera that makes sense to use, THIS IS THE CAMERA THAT MAKES SENSE TO USE, No Questions Asked.
