We don’t know why, but apparently, the worst kept secret in the tech industry is no longer a secret anymore, because, in Google’s IO 2022 developer conference today, the company just confirmed the existence of the leaked Pixel Watch. The company also showed pictures of the device and it very much looks like a bezel-less Samsung Galaxy Watch, also mimicking how it already looked in the leaked renders by Ian.
The Pixel Watch has a domed round face and has a pastel Based color scheme. There’s also a tactile crown and customizable bands, which will be available after the device launches. The device will also run wear OS3, which the company launched last year in collaboration with Samsung.
Some features that many people anticipated are also coming, like offline map directions, SOS features, and a new Google Wallet. Does it beg the question is the Google watch going to be the next Apple Watch from Android? The company is also promising deep integration with Fitbit, which they recently acquired. And apart from that and not much else is known about the watch itself right now, except for the fact that it will be released in the coming months alongside the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro.

We do not know what chipset the watch will come equipped with right now, but we do have a feeling that Google may debut this watch with their in-house made tensor chip. All of these features make the good Pixel Watch an intriguing offer from Google, not meant to attract users from Apple’s ecosystem, as it does not work with iOS, but it’s a great thing to capitalize on the currently existing Android Market.
