Meta Quest 2 prices are going to soar soon

When electronic devices normally tend to get older, the prices drop as the valuation of the device doesn’t stay the same anymore. This is not the case for the Meta Quest 2, it is the polar opposite as the company is planning to raise the price of the VR headset from $299 to $400 for the base 128GB version on August 1st.

Refurbished quest two prices are still jumping to our respective $349 and $429 for 128GB and 256GB headsets. You could also expect higher accessory prices. The company does partly offset the increases by offering free copies of BeatSaber to new buyers between August 1st and December 31st. The company previously pinned the increase on higher manufacturing and shipping costs. This price hike for the premium VR headset will let the parent company grow its investment in research and development for VR products, according to a blog post by the company themselves. Meta did point out the high-end project Cambria headset as an example, emphasizing that new generation self quest will be in the pipeline as they continue to raise prices.

Quest is still one of the more affordable entry points for VR headsets as you don’t really require a PC for running it and it will make the higher minimum outlay any easier and it potentially opens the door to Pico and other companies that might try to compete with Meta on the price of the VR headset.
