Google just introduced a small but very useful change for Google Photos on the web As from now in the info section, for every photo there will be a new category called backed up after the current date, location, device, EXIF, and image size. It will also show whether the file has been saved in original quality or storage saver and how much space it’s taken up on your device.

This will be informative for users on Google’s free tiers following their storage policy changes that they put in place on June 1, 2021, ending unlimited free storage of photos. Google will now let you manage your photos on a more granular basis, and if you need to free up space, you could just check the quality at a glance and that’s on top of the current manage storage feature they already provide an overview and management of your cloud storage with.

Oddly, very much like the uploaded from and shared information, this information is not available on the Android or iOS apps, but it’s only available for Google Photos on the web. This feature has started to hit some accounts out there, but it’s yet to be widely rolled out for all the masses, so you might not instantaneously see this feature on your Google Photos on the web.
