Casio’s latest watch is inspired by astronaut spacesuits

Casio just launched a new G Shock model watch with a new bold color that will make it familiar and likable to space fans as it takes the eye-catching color from the iconic orange suits astronauts wear for the takeoff and entry portions of their flight so that the astronauts can easily be spotted by rescue teams in case they spacecraft bails out into the ocean.

The company says that the black dial of the watch represents the black visor on the helmets Astronauts wear with the suit, while the thin blue line of the dial mimics the blue accents on the suits. The band loop of the watch is adorned by an American flag on the back of the casing, features, and engraving of an astronaut. Even the packaging of the watch is on the theme as it comes in a tin can and a box that also features elements of the “pumpkin suits” made by NASA.

Casio releasing a new G Shock Watch based on a NASA space suit doesn’t come as a surprise, as the company already has a very long history with NASA as G SHOCK was one of the few timepieces the company approved for use on the Space Shuttle and aboard the ISS. This Orange Watch is a much more expensive version than the predecessors, and it will set back buyers by $170, only available for a limited time and can be purchased only from the official Casio website, We think it’s overrated, but if someone’s that big of a fan they would love getting this kind of a watch for themselves.
