The current head of the US Secret Service, James Murray, will now leave their role to head up security at Snapchat Inc. Murray joined the Secret Service back in 1995 and joined the Medal of Director in April 2019, although they will be stepping down on July 30th as Murray was looking to retire from public service for some time and that his departure is very unrelated to any recent scandals that have been going on [According to The Washington Post]

Murray is joining Snapchat on August 1st working on employee protection and acting as a liaison with law enforcement when necessary.
The Secret Service has come under a lot of scrutiny in recent years after a lot of high-profile incidents dulled some of its reputations, including a lot of security breaches that happened during President Obama’s tenure. Political reports that Murray’s decision to allow secret agent Anthony Ornato to take his role as White House political adviser to the previous administration was problematic for a body that is meant to be above politics.
