Rivian is now making a comeback after many setbacks this year


Rivian has had a very tough 2022 as the company blamed inflation and component shortages that raised the price for their quad motor pickup truck by a whopping $12,000. Despite these issues, Rivian still says they are on track to produce 25,000 vehicles in 2022. The company did reiterate this prediction in a statement that they shared on Wednesday. The company says that they built 4401 R1T trucks, R1S SUVs, and Amazon delivery vans at their factory in Normal, Illinois. They did say that they delivered nearly 4500 vehicles during the second quarter.

RJ Carnage, the CEO of Rivian, said that supply chain and production are ramping and also, “We just announced production of 4,401 vehicles for Q2 bringing our cumulative total since the start of production to 7,969 — keeping us on track to reach our year-end goals.” Although 4401 vehicles is a very small number, it is a very big improvement for Rivian as a brand, as in the three months of the year, the start basically build 2553 cars and it’s also noteworthy to say that the company managed to scale reducing while facing Many supply chain issues that are plaguing a lot of other companies in the market, including Tesla [Their biggest competitor]

Increasing production capacity will be very critical to Rivian survival as in addition to an approximately 71,000 vehicle pre-order backlog, the company has 100,000 van orders That need to be fulfilled for Amazon.
