Microsoft has just unveiled that Windows 11 will soon start supporting widgets for third-party apps this year, and developers will also be able to create widgets for their apps or Progressive web apps, with Microsoft’s adaptive cards platform.

Panos Panay, Microsoft’s CPO said, “We’re energized by the customer feedback on widgets to date. People are enjoying the quick access to content most important to them in a way that is seamless without breaking their flow,”
Microsoft did bring back widgets that previously appeared in Windows 7 when they were released in Windows 11 last year. However, they did tuck the widgets behind the dedicated button. Well, opening up the wedges feature to third-party developers to provide adequate lens information. Microsoft. really is playing the best card here as it will push the relevancy of the widgets panel.
