Even though Netflix says their service won’t include ads, they revealed last month that they will roll out a cheaper ad-supported plan. Reed Hastings [Co CEO Netflix] said that the cheaper ad-supported plans would be coming over the next year or two, but it does seem like the company is looking to offer the option even sooner than that.

Executives told in a note that they want to introduce an ad-supported plan in the last three months of 2022 saying That the new tier would be introduced around the same time as an extra fee for subscribers who shared their passwords would come.
In a memo, Netflix notes that outside of Apple TV, plus every other streaming platform has a lower cost ad-supported plan, which is becoming one of Netflix’s largest competitors.
