Nintendo nearly sold 23.6 million Switches overall for the entire fiscal year ending in March 2022, Although that might sound impressive to you, it’s still 5,000,000 units lesser than this previous year they sold. Also, the company originally thought that they were going to sell 25.5 million units this year, but they lowered their forecasts to 24 million.

All of this is currently happening because of the continued global chip shortage and the Supply chain issue right now. Also, sales increased a lot due to the pandemic as people were purchasing new gaming consoles while Making the Switch the company’s best-selling home console.

Even though global lockdowns aren’t very regular as of right now, parts for making these Nintendo switches are still very hard to get. The company also says that the chip shortage persisting throughout 2023, would cause a downfall in their sales too.

Nintendo also expects lower net sales and profit in the next fiscal year as They expect sales to fall by nearly $12.3 billion. While their annual operating profit falls to $3.8 billion. Even though hardware sales are lower than ever, Nintendo has still claimed the highest annual software sales for a single hardware family.
