Meta is planning to release a new high-end VR headset this year, codenamed Project Cambria, and the company just shared some details about this. Cambria has been described as a laptop for the face and will have similar specs to a Chromebook using the own VR OS [Based on Android] Meta offers.

The VR headset is also going to be compatible with web-based tools and services, as well as a lot of quests apps. However, considering the company is pitching this as a future work device, it still might not be able to run native desktop apps commonly used by businesses.
Cambria will have very high-resolution image quality, allowing the user to read any kind of text to be able to send emails and code, wearing the headset. Cambria will also provide the user with a view of their surroundings using outward-facing cameras, this feature will allow the full color to pass through and allow mixed reality experiences. This headset will also be a lot heavier than the Quest 2 due to a larger battery inside, positioned at the rear for better balance.
According to many sources out there, Cambria might hit the shelves around September, costing over $800. It was supposed to be here last year, but the company wasn’t able to because of supply chain issues. Meta is also going to be releasing three other headsets they plan to release within the next few years as they pressed forward with their metaverse ambitions.
