Creators can now remix up to 5 seconds of video content on YouTube Shorts

Creators on YouTube will now be able to clip and remix up to 5 seconds of any eligible video on YouTube Shorts. The feature is going to be available for everyone on iOS in the coming weeks, and it will come to Android later this year.

But currently, if you want to remix a regular video, you could just tap the create button and then cut from the remix options. You’ll then be able to choose which part of the video you want to use in your short video.

When people remix other videos into YouTube shorts, there automatically is an attribution included for the original video and the creator. But if you wouldn’t want your videos to be remixed, you could just opt-out of YouTube studio when you’re uploading.

Adding this video remix tool was a very smart move, remixing options on other short video platforms like TikTok were part of the growth. This feature will give creators a much bigger palette and it will also entice a lot of newcomers to try making YouTube shorts as well.
