Hyundai is going to be manufacturing electric vehicles in the United States starting in December this year, with the electrified Genesis GV70 crossover model. The company says that this is part of a bigger plan to invest $7.4 billion in the United States by 2025, developing a family of electric vehicles & smart mobility technology.

Hyundai is going to be starting production at their Montgomery, Alabama plant in October with the Santa Fe Hybrid. The company also says that they are going to be investing $300 million in creating 200 new jobs at that plant [The only manufacturing facility they have in the United States] The Genesis GV70 crossover model was quietly released in Guangzhou, China and they haven’t announced the specs for the United States, which is why they didn’t mention this electric vehicle in their press release.
According to a lot of sources, the Korean version will come with an 800-volt charging system and 77.4 kWh battery good for about 400 km (247 miles) of range with two electric motors that produce 482 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque.
