Google Now is joining Apple and Samsung in allowing you to get the resources you need to fix the phones yourself as the company is now partnering with iFixit to provide official parts for Pixel devices. You’ll have access to a “full range” of components like batteries, cameras, and displays, whether you buy them by themselves or alongside tools in iFixit Fix Kits.

This initiative with iFixit is available in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and every EU country where the Pixel devices are sold. Google also said that they were expanding authorized repair shops if you’d like to have your phone fixed by a professional.
According to Google, this is a step in a broader sustainability push, and every Google hardware from 2022 will include at least some recycled material in them, and the company also pointed to other longevity-related features like five years of security updates and tools to turn old laptops into Chromebooks to stop letting those devices from becoming E-waste.
There’s also probably a very specific motivation for this, just the way Apple and Samsung face pressure from regulators. Google is also probably facing regulator pressure. This partnership with iFixit won’t really help Google get away from the criticism very much, but it does show that the company is willing to bend to the right to repair rules.
