Windows 11 is getting a redesign, and a new File Explorer!

Microsoft just unveiled some new features around Windows 11 for upgrading the capabilities. Things like improvements to video calls, tools, and changes coming to the File Explorer would be redesigned with a tabs feature.

According to the company’s release, “the redesigned, cloud-powered File Explorer” would let you “see all files in one centralized place.” You will be able to pin files and create tabs, keeping your most frequently visited folders within easy reach. In a video where Microsoft showed these new features, it looks like you’ll be able to right-click on the file or document and pin it, Also, if you would like to have multiple File Explorer tabs open, you can also click the plus symbol at the top left and open a new tab [It looks so much like browser tabs]

Microsoft also added touch Snap layouts to make it easier to quickly arrange your apps on touch-enabled devices. Microsoft also says that Windows 11 is the most accessible and inclusive version of Windows ever, and also shared more assistive tools that would come to the platform like a system-wide live captions feature, which was announced earlier this year, and a focus mode that will help people with ADHD to be more productive. [Could probably be useful for me] The company is also bringing new tools to Windows 11 like Microsoft Defender, Smart Screen, and Smart App Control. Microsoft Defender Smartscreen will detect when you’re entering your Microsoft account login information into a malicious application or a hacked website, which would potentially protect you from phishing attacks.

Smart App Control is a service that uses Microsoft AI and codes signing to make sure only trusted applications can be run on your PC. Microsoft still has not released any date of when these features could be released to the public version of Windows 11 just yet, but it does seem like it’s coming soon.
