Literally, Like a year ago, Sony said that they were working with Jade Raymond’s Haven Studios on a new IP, now they acquired this developer. A lot of financial terms were not disclosed, but Sony and Haven did share some info about the game they have been working on for a year.

Raymond said that their new IP4 PlayStation is on track to deliver a AAA multiplayer experience with a vision to build a systematic and evolving world focused on freedom, thrill, and playfulness that will keep players entertained and engaged for years. It seems like Haven is making a live service game that the studio will support for a lot of years, Sony did not share a release date for this project, which they didn’t even share the name of.

This new acquisition by Sony is the latest sign in the video game industry reserved for the big players. We are only a few months into 2022 and Microsoft and Sony have already announced acquisitions and deals to carve out the industry in the coming years. The storm of acquisitions started in January when Microsoft revealed they were buying Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion. Nearly a week later, Sony gobbled up Bungie for $3.6 billion.
