Microsoft Edge has almost killed a BIG rival in the browser war, there’s still a caveat though.

The browser wars continue to be very uncertain and wild. According to the latest data Microsoft Edge is surpassing Safari from Apple when it comes to desktop market share. Microsoft Edge is now used on 9.54% of desktops worldwide (Including me, I like Edge) its just behind Safari at 9.84%. As you have probably guessed, Google Chrome still stands on the top in their browser game.

Although Edge is catching up to Safari on the worldwide level, if you just take North America for comparison, it’s a different story as Safari is used on 16.87% of desktops compared to Edge’s 11.93% market share.

In Europe and Asia though, Edge has already leapfrogged Safari at 10.9% compared to 9.95% of desktops running Safari, 7.46% compared to just 5.41% in Asia. Safari being the browser available as default on iPhone and iPad, it has a 26.71% of mobile market share worldwide still 9.95% of desktops but very little compared to Chrome’s 62.06% market share on both iOS and Android.

Microsoft Edge has also been downloaded over 10 million times on the Google Play Store, and the app has also 4.6 stores on Apple’s App Store. It’s still not listed on many stat counting sources, which shows how low the number of people using the browser is.
