The Apple Chip Guy just left them for Intel, this is getting saucy

Apple transition away from Intel processors to their apple. Silicon has been very well received. The M1 processors and the Max that use it and its variants like the M1 Pro and Max have received many likes for their performance and efficiency.

Although Intel does not like the decision Apple has taken. To get away from their chips after being one of their largest partners for a long time now. Here’s the thing that was happening behind the door, “Jeff Wilcox” was the one who was in charge of the transition. He was the director of the Mac System Architecture team from 2013 to 2021.

On January 5, 2022, he posted. The following message is on his LinkedIn profile. “I’m pleased to share that I have started a new position as Intel Fellow, Design Engineering Group CTO, Client SoC Architecture at Intel Corporation. I could not be more thrilled to be back working with the amazing teams there to help create groundbreaking SOCs. Great things are ahead!”

It looks like Wilcox’s new role at Intel will be quite expensive indeed. He has been in the company before from 2010 to 2013. He was principal engineer for PC chipsets in Intel previously and now he’s back there.

The fact that Apple lost one of the key people who were in charge of the apple silicon transition doesn’t mean that the M2 will be bad or that Apple’s future silicon will suffer. It’s just kind of sad to see.

Apple is making great strides in the industry dominated by Intel and AMD. Intel is catching engineers working on them.
