Microsoft Unveils All-Digital White Xbox Series X and 2TB Black Edition

Microsoft has officially introduced a white, disc-less version of the Xbox Series X, set to hit the market later this year. This all-digital console mirrors the performance of the original Xbox Series X, boasting 1TB of storage and priced at $449.99.

Revealed by Xbox president Sarah Bond during the Xbox Games Showcase, the new white Xbox Series X complements a 2TB “Galaxy Black” version of the original console, which will feature a disc drive and be available for $599.99. Additionally, a 1TB Xbox Series S in white will be released for $349.99.

The new white Xbox Series X sports a “robot white” finish similar to the Xbox Series S, while leaks suggest possible upgrades to its cooling system, pending confirmation from future teardowns.

The Galaxy Black edition offers the same high-speed performance and features as the standard Xbox Series X, but with double the storage capacity and a distinctive design. Xbox hardware chief Roanna Sones emphasized the enhanced storage and unique aesthetics in a recent blog post.

The introduction of the white Xbox Series X suggests that Microsoft may have shelved or delayed the previously rumored refresh of the Xbox Series X, codenamed Brooklin. This unannounced model was intended to be all-digital with a more cylindrical design and new controller features. Xbox chief Phil Spencer hinted at changing plans for Xbox hardware, promising future updates when ready.
