DHL will soon be switching to electric with 2,000 Ford E-Transit vans

By the end of the decade, DHL plans to electrify 60% of its delivery fleet with assistance from Ford. The automaker’s Pro division revealed on Monday that it would provide 2,000 E-Transit electric vans to the logistics firm by the end of 2023. The purchase is a part of a €7 billion investment DHL has planned to create a fleet that emits no emissions by the end of the decade. Some of the vans covered by the agreement, according to Ford, have already been delivered to DHL and are being used for express deliveries across Europe and the Americas.

For a company like DHL, which already has 27,000 EVs in its fleet, 2,000 cars may not seem like much, but Ford has the option of giving the company more E-Transit vans. Ford will provide DHL access to test vehicles under the terms of the agreement of understanding the two parties signed. Additionally, they intend to collaborate on developing new goods and charging systems. Other companies besides Ford also supply electric vans to some of the largest parcel delivery companies in the planet. For instance, Amazon declared in 2019 that it will purchase 100,000 EVs from Rivian.
